Former Hotel Employee Faces Felony Charges of Burglary and Criminal Trespass

Credit: Submitted - Falls Twp Police

A Philadelphia man accused of burglarizing a local hotel was released on unsecured bail and will appear in court after the holidays.

Falls Township Police responded to the Sheraton Hotel at 400 Oxford Valley Road, Langhorne, just before midnight on Sunday, December 22, to investigate a burglary in progress.

According to the hotel manager, she was watching a live feed of the former employee, who broke into the kitchen’s liquor closet and was currently packing bottles into bags. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a blue and red leather jacket with a grey sweatshirt, according to the probable cause.

Police arrived on scene and parked behind the hotel. A black male wearing a blue and red leather jacket carried three bags that appeared full. A police officer instructed the male to place the bags on the ground, after which he was taken into custody, said police.

He was identified as Terriek Hammonds, 44 of Philadelphia, an employee who had been fired a few months ago and forbidden from returning to the property. Hammonds knew not to be on the property and did not have access to the building. Pry marks were visible on the locked liquor closet door inside the hotel, and it had been forced open. The arrest of Hammonds resulted in the recovery of 37 bottles of alcohol with an estimated value of over $1000.00. There was damage to both the door and locking mechanism. In one of Hammond’s bags, two small pry bars were found along with a knife, written by police in the affidavit.

Judge Christopher E. O’Neill arraigned Hammonds on felony charges of burglary and criminal trespass, along with misdemeanors of criminal mischief and theft of movable property. He was released on $75,000 unsecured bail. He is tentatively scheduled to appear before Judge John T. Galloway on January 7, 2025, shown in court documents.
