Drunk Bristol Man Charged for Assaulting Wife, Brawling with Police Breaking the Hand of Veteran Sgt
A drunken Bristol Borough man, police say, assaulted his wife and fought with police leading to one veteran officer breaking his hand and requiring surgery.
Bristol Borough Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Linden Street for a report of a domestic incident in progress just before midnight on May 31.
Upon arrival, Sgt. Pete Faight spoke with the female complainant at the resident’s front door. She told police her ex-husband was intoxicated and assaulted her. Faight noted in the probable cause that the victim was armed with a bat and said that the ex-husband was upstairs with the children and probably would not come down.
The defendant, Marc Kornstedt, 38, came down the steps to the front door and became aggressive with the police. He attempted to shut the front door on the officers, according to court papers.
Sgt. Faight was able to make entry, and Kornstedt began to fight with officers. Faight suffered a broken hand that requires surgery due to the confrontation, court records show.
Kornstedt also allegedly spit in Officer Dino Lepore’s face and elbowed him in the face during the struggle to take him into custody, according to the probable cause.
The victim at Police Headquarters provided a written statement in which she said her ex-husband came home intoxicated and when she confronted him about being intoxicated, he became violent and punched her in the face grabbed her by her hair threw her into a wall and placed her in a headlock.
Kornstedt was arraigned by Judge Corryn Kronnagel on two felony counts of assault of a law enforcement officer . He was also charged with one misdemeanor count of simple assault, resisting arrest and recklessly endangering another person. His bail was set at $250,000.00 and unable to post 10%, he was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility (BCCF). His preliminary hearing is set for June 11 with Judge Daniel J. Finello Jr. presiding. Kornsted will be represented by the Bucks County Public Defender’s office.

Lower Bucks municipalities have declared disaster/snow emergencies in advance of the expected snow storm that the National Weather Service says will dump anywhere between 14 to 18 inches on the area.
