A 19 -year old Bristol Township man has been charged with attempted homicide and related offenses,ย for spraying gunshots towards a group of people on Wood Street in Bristol Borough last fall borough police announced Tuesday.ย
Police say Troy Keys fired multiple gun shots at an 18 year-old intended victim while they were standing with a small group of people, including two children under the age of 10.ย Keys was charged with with criminal attempt to commit murder and 14 other offensesย a press release from borough police said.ย
At the time of the shooting, one witness told LBS one of the shots firedย landed at the feet of one of the children in the small group assembled on Wood St.ย
Keys, police say, while in a cream colored SUV passed by the group at approximately 5:45ย pm reached the intersection of Wood and Mulberry Streets and fired multiple rounds towards the group striking a residence and one round shattering a second floor window of the Bristol Fire Company at the opposite end of the block , as previously reported by LBS.

At the time of the incident witnesses told LBS, investigators recovered a cell phone and a set of keys at the crime scene.
Within 24 hours of the incident Bristol Borough Police were able to locate the SUV in the shooting and published images of a “person of interest” connected to the incident. The investigation, however,ย slowed down thereafter due to a lack of cooperation from witnesses, Chief of Police Steve Henry said in late October.
Public outcry and want for more information onย investigative progress lead Mayor Joe Saxton to say at the October council meeting, โI want to reach out to the people of Wood Street to say that youโre not forgotten. We are actively investigating and we appreciate the cooperation of our residents while we investigate this cowardly act.โ

In early November, it was reported and confirmed by community and law enforcement sources, that the person of interest sought by investigators was killed in a out of state car crash. The name of the deceased individual is being withheld by the publication since he was never charged with a crime. This information, however,ย helped to confirm more than one suspect was being sought by investigators.ย
Witnesses after the shooting saidย there were at least two people” in the SUV at the time of the shooting.
Investigators would not confirm or deny the report at the time, commenting only that the investigation was “very active and open.”
Locals contacting LBS at the time expressed frustration with the lack of progress in the investigation and fears related to “gangs.”
Keys, is currently in Bucks County Correctional on charges filed by the Bristol Township and Middletown Township authorities, for two other unrelated shooting incidents, police say.ย
Keys is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and 14 other offenses in the borough shooting and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning.
Bristol Borough, Bristol Township, Middletown Township and the Bucks County District Attorneys office worked in tandem on the investigation.ย
