Wednesday mornings brush fire at the Delaware Canal Lagoon Park was caused by repairs being done to the tracks Borough Fire officials said, Thursday.
Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack said the fire was the result of sparks from Amtrak repairs to the track requiring welding and grinding on the rail line.
Fire crews from Bristol Consolidated, Goodwill Hose Company #3, Bristol Fire Company, Third District Fire Company and Croydon Fire Company responded to reports of a loud explosion and found a large area of brush and trees engulfed by flames.
Slack said the fire burned for about 150 feet along the south side railroad embankment. Firefighters, within an hour knocked back the flames with no injuries reported.
