Fired Morrisville Officers New Trial Date Set

Morrisville Police Corporal Michael Pitcher

A fired former Morrisville Police officers new trial date has been set for October.

Michael Pitcher will now get his day in court on October 12,in Doylestown, accused of unlawful use of  a computer, terroristic threats, official oppression and harassment of a Lower Makefield couple.

Pitcher’s trial had been previously scheduled to start in March of 2020 but was delayed due to COVID-19 mitigation when the county courts closed due to the pandemic.

In February a miscellaneous hearing was held to update all the parties involved with the case and discuss scheduling, a source in the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals office told this publication.

Pitcher, 42 of Piperville represented by Louis R. Busico was originally charged in August of 2019 with making threatening phone calls, and using police computers to ascertain personal information of a local couple.

Pitcher was put on administrative leave in April of 2019, while the investigation took place and then suspended in July of 2019 and  terminated by the borough last June .

Borough officials cited monetary and police staffing concerns prior to voting to oust Pitcher from the police department.

“Michael Pitcher nearly lost his life protecting the citizens of Bucks County; to attempt to terminate his employment in this fashion-prior to any conclusion of his pending case is highly inappropriate and in my opinion unjust,” Busico said in response to Pither’s firing.

Council President Ted Parker called Pitcher’s arrest a stain on the police department.

Pitcher made headlines when he was electrocuted in a drug bust at the Doylestown train station in 2016 and in 2015 he shot a driver who tried to run him down in a 7-eleven parking lot.
