PennDOT announced paving and line striping operations are planned on U.S. 1 under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in 1 Bensalem and Middletown townships.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Sunday, August 10, through Friday, August 15, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for line striping.
- Monday, August 11, through Friday, August 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., lane closures with flagging will be in place on Rockhill Drive in both directions between Old Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Boulevard for line striping.
- From 8 p.m. Friday, August 15, to 6 a.m. Monday, August 18, a lane closure will be in place on southbound U.S. 1 between Route 213 (Maple Avenue) and Old Lincoln Highway for bridge deck repair and paving.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
