On June 6th of this year Lower Bucks Source published a story covering the arrest of Marc Kornstedt at his ex-wife’s home in the 500 block of Swain Street on May 30 by Bristol Borough Police.

Kornstedt was charged with two felony counts of assault on a law enforcement officer. He was also charged with a single misdemeanor counts of simple assault, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment. On-call Judge Corryn Kronnagel arraigned Kornstedt setting his bail at 10 percent of $250,000.00 which he could not post at 10%, with the judge remanding him to Bucks County Correctional Facility (BCCF).

Subsequent to Kornstedt’s arrest rumors, unfounded allegations (so far) flourished in neighborhood circles and social media. Male callers from blocked phone numbers identifying themselves as “anonymous sources” alleged Bristol Borough officials had buried key evidence – in home video surveillance evidence – that would show …

Each of the blocked anonymous calls could not/would not disclose what they allegedly thought had occurred. They also could not/would not disclose how, if at all, they had actual, factual or direct knowledge of what occurred that night at Kornstedt’s former home. The tipster(s) allege a third officer was involved in the physical confrontation that Memorial Day weekend night.

Detective William “Billy” Davis had a some sort of physical confrontation with Kornstedt. It didn’t, however, happen inside the Linden St residence. That incident occurred during Kornstedt’s transfer to Bensalem Police Department, for processing, confidential sources told Lower Bucks Source.

From Bensalem, Kornstedt was transported to Bucks County Correctional Facility where he’s remained for the last 93 days and counting.

Davis was cleared of any wrongdoing, by the DA’s office, sources said, Lepore and Faight were placed on administrative leave for about 23 days, officials confirmed for Lower Bucks Source.

Faight who broke his right hand that night has been out out on medical leave since the arrest.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s office conducted an investigation of the physical altercation clearing him and Lepore.

“Bristol Borough officers were investigating a violent domestic assault at the scene that day. Following a thorough investigation, the officers were cleared of any wrongdoing. The individual was charged with several offenses related to domestic assault and the assault on police officers,” said Bucks County District Attorney’s office spokesman Manuel Gamiz Jr, Tuesday afternoon.

Days before the officers were cleared, Kornstedt’s bail was reduced to 10 percent of $10, 000.00. His preliminary hearing originally scheduled for June 11 has been continued four times with a new September 17 date in front of Sr Judge Daniel J. Finello Jr.

It was within the last 14 days this news organization was able to confirm the existence of the in-home video and obtain copies of it.

*There are four clips with varying lengths. Two of the four clips are essentially the same except for one minor detail; one is slightly longer that the other in run-time. Two of the three clips that originally appeared in this story were removed from the YouTube due to a “privacy complaint” filed with the platform.

Bristol Borough Solicitor Jeff Barton of Begley, Carlin & Mandio on Tuesday said Bristol officials have “no comment”, citing Kornstedt’s  court case still matriculating through the courts.

Additionally the borough solicitor pointed to a state law— The Criminal History Information Act – forbidding municipalities from releasing documents, records, videos connected to open criminal investigations.

The borough, according to sources with knowledge of the investigation, turned over the in-home video to the DA’s office within hours of Kornstedt’s arrest.

Judge James McMaster denied a second bail reduction request on August 1.

Kornstedt is represented by the Bucks County Public Defender’s Office, according to online court records. Officials from that office when contacted in July would not confirm or deny they were representing him.

Kornstedt’s mother declined to comment for this story

Attempts to to reach the attorney representing the Bristol Borough Police Benevolent Association for this were unsuccessful.

Editor’s Note: Days after this story was originally published a privacy complaint was filed by an unidentified person with YouTube. The video platform pulled two of the uploaded videos that appeared in the story and on the platform down.

On September 18 the two removed video clips were re-uploaded and set back in this story.  In order to fully see what is actually taking place during the altercation, the clips are best viewed on a computer monitor etc. Viewing the clips on a cell phone – like Mr Kornstedt spitting in Officer Lepore’s face – can barely be seen. As well as other subtle physical actions the video clips show.
