A early morning crash on U.S. 1 just north of the Rt 13 Overpass in Falls Township has led to one man dying as result of injuries he sustained subsequent to getting out of the smashed Cadillac.
On Tuesday, October 28, at approximately 2:25 a.m, Falls Township Police investigated a traffic accident, involving a struck pedestrian, on US Route 1 northbound, just north of the US Route 13 overpass.
The preliminary investigation determined that a black Cadillac was traveling northbound on US Route 1 and lost control at the overpass. The Cadillac struck the concrete lane divider and came to a final resting position in the middle of the highway. The passenger of the Cadillac exited and went to the right shoulder for safety, police said.
“The operator of the Cadillac, a 38-year-old male resident of Trenton, New Jersey, was struck while outside of the vehicle by a Lexus ES3 (sedan) being operated by a 30 year old male resident of Trenton, New Jersey,” Lt. Chris Clark said.
The struck male sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Capitol Health Trenton, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, Clark said.According to police the operator of the Lexus did not seek medical treatment. The passenger of the Cadillac experienced minor injuries and sought medical treatment.
Investigators at this time say it is not known if alcohol or drugs factored into this crash.
