Update: Morrisville Officer Struck on Rt 1 in “Stable Condition” Chief Says

As reported earlier tonight a police officer was struck on Rt 1 around  9 pm Monday night in Morrisville Borough while assisting officers from Falls Township.

First reports into Lower Bucks Source said a Falls Twp officer was hit, however, shortly after the accident Falls Police officials said it was a Morrisville Borough officer that was struck.

Morrisville Borough Chief of Police George McClay confirmed for Lower Bucks Source it was one of his officers and what led to the accident.

Corporal William Smith was attending to a motorist when he was struck in the rear while on the side of Rt 1 at Pennsylvania Avenue, McClay said.

“The Cpl. is in stable condition with head and neck injuries, treated at Capital Health” he said.

A Falls Township Police officer was struck in the southbound lane of Rt 1 by vehicle officials said  Monday night.

Witnesses who saw the incident said the officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

One witness in a social media post described a van engulfed in smoke on the roadway.

Another said there were three police vehicles, with one on the on ramp to the highway and the other two parked off on to shoulder with a stopped vehicle in front of it. That witness said police were offering aid to a disabled vehicle.

The condition of the struck officer is unknown at this time. More details as they come in,
