Updated: Three People Struck and Killed by Amtrak Train in Bristol, Officials Say

Three people were struck and killed by an Amtrak Train Thursday night in the area of the Bristol SEPTA Regional Rail Station, an official confirmed.

The incident occurred on the 600 block of Prospect Street, the official, who is not authorized to speak to media, said.

Two  witnesses to the before impact incident heard a loud discussion taking place in which two men were trying to talk a man down off the tracks.

Multiple sources have told  Lower Bucks Source one of the three men struck and killed is a first responder who also works for a community based mental health service provider as a outreach worker for the homeless population in Lower Bucks County. Names of the victims are being held back by LBS for the meantime.

Amtrak officials said, train 85 was traveling from Boston to Richmond, Va., at approximately 6:10 p.m. ET when three individuals on the track came into contact with the train at Bristol, Penn. There have been no reported injuries to the 236 passengers or crew onboard. Amtrak is working with Bristol Borough Police  to investigate the incident. Train service between Philadelphia and New York is temporarily suspended, said Amtrak

The Amtrak train, is currently idling, about 3/4 of a mile beyond the Bristol Station with investigators using as fire truck ladder placed on the  train tracks to gain access to the train and tracks apparently to collect evidence.
