A Morrisville man has been charged for stealing a boat and trailer from the home of a Bristol Borough Councilman.

John E. Foster III, age 60, of Falls Township was charged with theft and receiving stolen property, by Bristol Borough Police Wednesday.

As previously reported the theft occurred on April 27 around 2:30 p.m. Two suspects, police said at the time, sailed off with the trailer and boat from the Corson Street yard of David and Nancy Girard.

After releasing the video to local media outlets the boat and trailer were returned to the neighborhood.  Multiple items on the boat had been damaged or disconnected and it appeared as if the suspect (s) were preparing to scrap the boat and trailer, said police in a press release.

Multiple tips were received from the public which eventually lead to the Falls Township Police advising Bristol Borough of a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description in a local trailer park.  The owner of the vehicle was identified and subsequently questioned regarding the incident, police said.

As a result of this investigation, Det. Bill Davis filed charges against Foster. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at Bristol Borough District Court on July 7.

No word on whether the second suspect alleged to be part of the theft is still being sought.
