Original Story

One person was stabbed and taken to the hospital for surgery Monday afternoon, in an incident behind the Mavis Tire Center, Bristol authorities said.

The intense police response was noted by neighbors and shoppers in the area around 12:30 p.m.

Bristol Borough Police Chief Steve Henry confirmed the stabbing shortly after locals responded to seeing police racing towards the Bristol Park Shopping Center on Bristol Pike.

The tire shop is located at 95 Commerce Circle.

He said “We are currently working a stabbing near the Mavis Tire Store. The incident had no connection to the business.”

Witnesses at the scene alleged a fight between two individuals living at a homeless encampment is what led to the stabbing, however, Henry did not confirm those accounts.

Henry also would not comment on eyewitness accounts of a female being taken into police custody in the alleyway that runs behind businesses’ on the 230 block of Bristol Pike.

Henry said the victim was taken to Jefferson- Torresdale Hospital for surgery and that was all the information police would be releasing for the moment. .
