Motorist Strikes Deer Crossing Interstate in Middletown Twp, No Injuries Reported

According to animal behaviorists, deer are intelligent animals that demonstrate intelligence through learning from experience, adapting to their environment, and using their keen senses. They are not simply acting on instinct; they can recognize patterns, remember locations, and even adapt their behavior to avoid threats like hunters. 

Apparently, this level of intelligence attributed by experts in the field, failed one deer recently on I-295 in Middletown Township when a motorist driving a2025 Mercedes Benz slammed into a cervid crossing the interstate, according to the Pennsylvania State Police just after midnight on October 14.

This crash occurred as Mercedes  was traveling westbound on Interstate 295 in the area of mile marker 3.  As it was traveling westbound on Interstate 295, a deer entered the roadway from the right shoulder. The motorist was unable to avoid striking the deer, subsequently striking it head-on, Troopers said.

The BMW then traveled to a controlled final rest on the right shoulder of Interstate 295, authorities said.

No injuries were reported on scene, state authorities said, and no word on what if any injuries were suffered by the cervine.
