Subsequent to yesterday’s standoff with a man wanted by the Bucks County Sheriff’s office Bristol Township Police provided a few more details about what exactly transpired Thursday morning.
As reported yesterday, Sgt Jason Mancuso confirmed the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department attempted to execute an arrest warrant at 27 Wildflower Road in the Levittown section of Bristol Township at 6:30 a.m. The still yet unidentified man, refused to come out and at 9: 08 am the Bristol Township Police were notified and set out to assist the sheriff’s office.
Bristol Township Command staff arrived and took charge of the scene, Mancuso said, and it was decided to activate the Bucks County South SWAT team.
Police negotiators made contact with the individual at the center of the incident and after some communication the individual cooperated and exited the home.
He was taken into custody with no force and no injuries are reported, police said.
“At this time Bristol Township Police are not releasing the persons information and all questions can be referred to the Bucks County Sheriff’s office,” said Mancuso.
Investigative sources identified the suspect as John Chambers, 52, of Levittown, who had a warrant for failing to appear in court on assault and related offenses. Chambers was taken into custody by authorities, pending potential new charges. He is currently housed at Bucks County Correctional Facility on the warrant.

A police standoff with an unidentified man ended peacefully Thursday morning in the Levittown section of Bristol Township as the suspect surrendered to authorities.
Community sources living nearby said the standoff started around 9 am at a residence off Wildflower Road. It was attended by Bristol Township Police and deputies from the Bucks County Sheriff’s office. A short time later traffic was stopped and redirected by law enforcement from all directions approaching Wildflower Road.
Law enforcement from adjacent municipalities were on the scene to assist as a “Shelter in Place” order was issued by Bristol Township Police, at just after 9:30 a.m., according to alerts received from area residents.

Truman, Franklin, and Mill Creek are currently in “Hold in Place” due to outside police activity in the area. Staff and students are safe. We will provide updates as they become available” read the message from the Bristol Township School District.
The cause for the standoff and the name of the man taken into custody was not immediately known at publication time. However, neighbors close by said the man taken into custody “has a warrant and he didn’t want to come out.”
