Updated: Person Struck by Train in Bristol

A person was struck by an Amtrak train at the Bristol Regional Rail SEPTA station on Garden Street on Saturday afternoon. 

According to multiple sources at the scene, the individual struck has been pronounced dead and was likely a death by suicide, but that has to confirmed by officials. 

Amtrak Police, assisted by the  borough police department conducted an investigation into the fatality, however, neither have commented publicly about the investigation, nor has the identity of the victim been released. 

A spokesperson for Amtrak said, “Train 147 made contact with a trespasser that was on the tracks at around 2 p.m.”  

No reported injuries to the passengers or crew, she said and train travel was restricted through the area for about one hour and 15 minutes.

The incident did impact SEPTA Regional Rail service on the Trenton line.

That train line was down from approximately 2:45 PM to 5:30 PM after the fatality, a SEPTA spokesperson said

As recently as Friday a middle aged white male had been sleeping on the Philadelphia bound side of the platform at the train station, sources said, with community watchers wondering aloud if he was the person that was hit by the train.  

The Bucks County Coroners office as of Sunday evening, did not respond to requests for comment.
