John Aspromonti, 56 of Morrisville, a veteran officer for the borough police department is accused of “digging out” a sign and fleeing the area on his boat last Sunday by police.

Lower Bucks Source obtained the police arrest record on Friday.

The incident occurred on September 5th in Briellle Boro, when a resident of the area, contacted police to report Aspromonti “tampering” with a sign on Nienstedt Island.

A spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutors office said that it is not immediately clear whether the case will be heard in municipal or superior court.

A court administrator for the municipal court said at least one of the charges is indictable and thus is the responsibility of the state superior court. That court hears cases on serious offenses, she said.
