A little less than two years in the making, local and state officials came together Wednesday afternoon to cut the ribbon where future high school athletes will break plenty of ribbons in years to come with the official opening of the Bristol Borough High School running track.

A great day for the Bristol Borough community was celebrated with the dedication of the new Bristol High School running track. This incredible project represents an investment in our students, athletes, and the future of our community. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this vision a reality, and best of luck to all the Warriors who will compete here for years to come, Bristol officials said on Meta.

Senator Steve Santarsiero (D-10) and Representative Tina Davis (D-140) secured $485,000 in state funds to resurface the track.

Rep. Tina Davis and I got to see the results of our $485,000 state grant to resurface the track at Bristol Borough Junior/Senior High School. I’m excited to see what the Bristol Warriors will accomplish with this new facility!, Santarsiero said.

Council last spring approved the contract for American Athletic Courts (AAC) to resurface and rework the existing track with a bid of $511,250.00, with the Borough picking up the remainder of the costs the state grant did not cover, coming in at slightly more than $26,000.00.

The track is open to the community for use, officials said.
