An apparent gunshot victim found bleeding profusely from the neck was quickly raced to an area hospital and pronounced dead Monday night from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Bensalem Township Police said.
Beginning around 5:40 p.m tipsters reported an unconfirmed “shooting” coming out of Bristol Township citing reports from a Philadelphia’s Fox 29 the publication later discovered. Minutes later sources said Bensalem Township detectives were on scene 3400 block of Bristol Pike responding to a man with a gunshot wound to the neck. Bristol Twp Police Lt Sean Cosgrove said at 6:50 p.m. the incident on Bristol Pike was not connected to any incident in Bristol Township.
Bensalem authorities, in a request for comment sent out at 7:49 p.m responding minutes later, said the man in question was pronounced at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital shortly after arrival.
“Preliminary investigation is a self inflicted gunshot wound,” Sgt Glenn Vandergrift said.
Commenters on Lower Bucks Source socials said the victim was discovered in a pickup truck next door to a recovery house. Those reports have not been confirmed by investigators.
No further information was released by police.
