Bensalem Man Jailed for Trying to Run Over Apparent Competition for Love Interest, Cops Say

The thorn of jealousy apparently drove a Bensalem man to lose touch with reality and could potentially force him to spend the remaining years of his life behind bars.

Jeffrey Santucci, 66, Bristol Pike, Bensalem was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault,  simple assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses last weekend. District Justice Charles Jonas arraigned him setting bail as unsecured.

According to court papers filed by Bensalem Township Police, last Saturday at 4:10 p.m. Police were called to the intersection of Bristol Pike and Red Lion Road for a  public disturbance report.   When police arrived, the male victim stated that an unknown male, later identified a  Santucci,  pulled up next to him in a red GMC SUV and began yelling at him.  The male then exited the SUV with a large knife in his hand and chased the victim. When he could not catch him, the male then re-entered his SUV and attempted to run the victim over. he then stopped, backed up, and tried to run him over again.

The driver of the SUV then went south on Bristol Pike, immediately made a U-turn and attempted to run the victim over a third time!, the probable cause alleges

Santucci then entered Philadelphia County, via Red Lion Road.  Minutes later, he was back on Bristol Pike traveling north when he swerved across traffic onto Red Lion Rd  and attempted to run the victim over again, while he was standing on the side of the road.  The SUV spun its tires and did circles, trying to run over  the victim before it finally fled northbound on Bristol Pike, police said.

The entire incident was captured on surveillance video, court papers show.

This investigation, revealed Santucci may have been motivated by jealousy of a female that the victim was dating, the probable cause alleges.
