Bensalem Police Arrest Suspect from NYC In Identity Fraud Of North Carolina Resident

Bensalem Police arrested one man from Brooklyn New York and filed an arrest warrant for a second. each  accused of  stealing the identify of a resident in North Carolina and using his identity to withdraw funds from a federal credit union bank account.

According to the criminal complaint, Bensalem Police were contacted by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina on Mar. 26. According to police, a victim had reported someone had withdrawn money from their Navy Federal Credit Union account, at the 26oo block of Street Road location.

Police had reportedly spoken to a Navy Federal investigator who told them that on Mar 23, suspect Douglas Oakley entered the branch claiming to be the victim. Oakley presented the bank with the victims drivers licenses before using a Navy Federal Visa debit card to takeout $9,000 out of the victims bank account.

Police were then informed that on that same day, anther suspect identified as Anthony West, had been caught on surveillance cameras’ using the same debit card Oakley had to withdraw $1,000 out of an ATM at the same Navy Federal branch.

According to police, Navy Federal records show the Visa card Oakley was issued to Oakley at a branch in South Philadelphia.

Police had discovered that both Oakley and West have been arrested before in the state of New York, and used their booking photos to successfully identify that the two suspects that had been using the Visa card to steal money from victims account.

Oakley was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Michael Gallagher’s last Friday on 16 felony identity theft related counts. He is due back in court on September 1 to answer to the charges. He was remanded to the custody of Bucks County Correctional Facility with his bail set at 10 percent of $10,000

West remains at large according to online court records and faces the same 16 felony charges.
