Candlelight Vigil to be Held in Doylestown Honoring Lives Lost to Domestic Violence

Someone reading this, either knows or, is a victim of domestic violence (DV).

More than 50 percent of Lower Bucks Source readers are women who have children that are female also, according to Google Analytics.  An estimated one in four women and one in nine men will be subjected to abuse by an intimate partner, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, says.

The probability some readers are living in and around domestic violence is very high.

Join A Woman’s Place for their Candlelight Vigil to honor the lives lost to Domestic Violence. Located at the James-Lorah House, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm 132 N. Main Street Doylestown,18901. The vigil is part of AWP’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month efforts. 

In 2022, 104 victims lost their lives to domestic violence in Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV). In the last 10 years, more than 1,400 people have died from domestic violence-related incidents in Pennsylvania. Those killed included women, children, and men of all ages, races, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic groups, PCADV says.

Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior used to establish power and control over an intimate partner, causing both physical and emotional harm. Victims may be subjected to abuse, harassment, threats, vandalism, trespassing, burglary, theft and stalking, according to advocates and health professionals.

As one of the most chronically underreported crimes, domestic violence affects men and women in all racial, ethnic, religious, educational, social and economic backgrounds, DV advocates say.
