That deer in the headlights look you’re looking at is the image of an alleged Philadelphia region serial burglar realizing his business truck-crashing, burglary days have ended for the time being.
56-year-old Richard Sturts, was arrested last week charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and related offenses by the Bensalem Police Department. Sturts, is also wanted by Warrington Township authorities for fleeing and eluding, and he is also wanted by Bucks County Probation and Parole Department, according to online court records.
On December 2, 2025, at 7:26 a.m., Bensalem Police responded to Bob Nolan’s Auto Service, located at 2464 Bristol Pike, for the report of a overnight burglary.
The investigation, police say, revealed that at 12:34 a.m. that morning, a dark Chevy Silverado pickup truck pulled into the front parking lot and rammed the front glass door multiple times, shattering the glass of the business.
According to police, Sturts, exited the truck and entered the business by crawling through the bottom of the broken glass door. He immediately went to the cash register and stole it, police said.
During the same period as this burglary, similar burglaries were committed at locations in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, and Chester Counties authorities said using the same M.O. ; ramming the glass doors at the targeted businesses.
Investigators working on these cases identified Sturts as the “smash and grab” suspect.
Further investigation revealed two outstanding arrest warrants Sturts in Warrington Twp and county probation/parole.
Bensalem authorities entered the Silverado’s license plate into an Automated License Plate Reader system to be alerted when the vehicle traveled through Bensalem, court records show.
According to police, on December 18, 2025, Bensalem Police were alerted the Silverado was back in the municipalities jurisdiction.
Officers located the pickup truck in the area of the Cornwells Train Station Park and Ride near Station Avenue. Sturts was located on foot in the area and was taken into custody for the two outstanding arrest warrants, authorities said.
Sturts was transported to police headquarters and interviewed by detectives, where, according to police he admitted to driving the Chevy Silverado pick-up truck that was captured on surveillance during the burglary at Bob Nolan’s Auto Service and other burglarized businesses in the region.
Sturts was arraigned by on-call District Justice Mark Douple setting bail at 10% of $150,000, and he was remanded to Bucks County Prison.
Bensalem investigators said additional charges against Sturts from other police agencies are expected to be filed soon.
