A Philadelphia man who failed to turn himself into authorities twice  to begin serving a prison sentence was apprehended Tuesday by the long reach of  U.S. Marshals Violent Crime Fugitive Task.

According to a release, this morning  members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia apprehended Troy Hopkins, 35, in the 3200 block of Hurley Street in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. Hopkins was wanted for failing to appear for his Bucks County sentence relating to a narcotics arrest in Middletown Township, federal authorities said.

On August 5th, 2025, Hopkins plead guilty to possession with intent to distribute, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance and other related crimes. A Common Pleas Judge accepted the guilty plea and sentenced Hopkins to 38-49 months with a self-surrender date of Sept 5th, 2025.

He failed to surrender himself to Bucks County Prison and has been a fugitive since, authorities said.

Hopkins, U.S. Marshals said, also has four additional warrants in Philadelphia to include multiple probation violations.

On January 20th detectives from the Bucks County Detectives requested assistance from the Marshals Task Force in Philadelphia.

“Failure to appear for sentencing is a serious violation of a court order. The arrest of Troy Hopkins once again confirms the Marshal Service’s commitment to supporting Bucks County law enforcement,”  said  Robert Clark, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal.
