Fire Marshal Investigating, Early Morning Bensalem Blaze That Ripped Through Home

An early Monday morning fire ripped through a Bensalem Township home causing significant damages with five people escaping the rapidly spreading fire and all of them transported to area medical facilities with the fire marshal’s office launching an investigation into the cause of the fire.

At just before 5:30 a.m Monday morning, Bensalem Volunteer Fire Company crews were dispatched for a reported residential fire located on the 5200 block of Merganser Way at Portside Drive.

Arriving firefighters found fire showing from the rear of the home and went into service on exterior operations. Shortly thereafter the second floor of the residence collapsed, officials said, with four hand lines and two supply lines in service. A collapse zone was established with EMS requesting two additional medic units to come to the scene for medical transport and to provide on scene medical support.

Multiple hand lines were put into service along with one aerial, a fire official said. The fire was placed under control within 45 minutes, officials said.

Levittown Fire Company No 2 who were dispatched to the fire to provide RIT support and wound up going into service leaving a message for the community and beyond.

About 20 minutes later,  Lower Bucks Co area first responders were called to the 1000 block of Rocky Lane Middletown Township for a chimney fire with extension. The fire was under control, fire officials said, about 1o minutes after arriving on scene with no injuries reported.
