Jersey Man Convicted for 2022 Bensalem Warehouse Arson

A New Jersey man has been convicted on a federal charge for his role in a warehouse fire that occurred in Bensalem causing $6 million in damages and seriously injuring a a firefighter

Ramiz Duka, 61, of Cherry Hill, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit arson, the U.S. Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Pennsylvania said.

The fire was set to a warehouse located at 1388 Bridgewater Road in Bensalem on Dec. 10, 2022, officials said. The blaze caused millions in damages and firefighter Nicholas Altomare was seriously injured when a ladder collapsed.  He was out of work for some time Bensalem officials said, but returned to full duty after recovering from his injuries.

Prosecutors said Duka recruited two men to help him plot the arson and paid them $15,000 each. One of those men later set fire to the warehouse, officials said.

The motive for setting the fire and why the warehouse was targeted was not mentioned or released by investigating authorities.
