Wawa Closes Bucks Locations Overnight After Armed Robberies

Two Wawa’s in Bucks County are closing overnight following a pair of armed robberies last week.

The robberies, as reported by Lower Bucks Source, occurred on back-to-back nights, in Bensalem and Trevose.

Officials told CBS Philadelphia, they’re closing nine stores spanning from Northeast Philadelphia, to Bensalem and Churchville from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.

An area employee of the 24 hour convenience store said on the condition of anonymity, that it was about time the company did something to protect overnight employees.

“These days I don’t really feel all that safe,” the female overnight employee said.

Especially at the location I work at. In many ways it’s at the crossroads for all the human trash in the area, she said.

Store officials said the closures will not impact credit/debit card purchases of gas.

The temporary move comes days after Wawa officials decided two Center City, Philadelphia locations will be permanently shuttered due to “safety concerns” a second store employee told the publication Friday.

A Philadelphia man was charged for stabbing a man outside a Wawa in Bensalem last month.

The suspect (pictured above)  in the two Lower Bucks County robberies is still at large, police said Friday.  Anyone with information is asked to call the police.

Wawa says they will ‘Temporarily close or limit hours at some stores due to external operational challenges or recommendations by local authorities for the safety and security of our associates,’ the CBS Philadelphia report says.
