Acevedo said his decision to retire was not an easy one but the weather is impacting him and he just decided now is the right time to retire.
I just want to say thank you. I had a lot of great kids and great families. This is not something I wanted to do, the retired crossing guard said.
Acevedo officially retired on Dec 8 of 2025 and said he already really does “miss it a lot.”
Acevedo manned the corner of Buckley and Beaver Streets during his tenure.
He thanked the borough and officials for making sure he had the proper safety equipment and attire to keep him and his crossing guard colleague’s safe and warm on bad weather days.
