A 22-year-old man Levittown man was arrested and jailed on Friday accused by Bristol Borough Police of carrying a gun without a license, flight to avoid prosecution, and related offenses after he was caught on recorded jailhouse video talking about the incident with an inmate.
According to police, officers were dispatched at 11:08 pm regarding a disorderly group consuming alcoholic beverages on a public sidewalk in the vicinity of 709 Spruce Street.
The revving vehicle engines and playing loud music were taking place on the residential street.
Officers responding observed eight to 10 individuals gathered around a white Kia bearing Pennsylvania registration NDM***.
The vehicle, according to police, was playing extremely loud music that could be heard from down the block. As officers approached, the group immediately began to scatter and flee the area, both on foot and in vehicles.
In plain view, police observed open containers of alcoholic beverages and liquor bottles scattered along the public sidewalk and within the Kia.
Police observed a light-skinned Black male dive into the rear passenger compartment of the white Kia. He removed what appeared to be a tan-colored firearm with an extended magazine from his front waistband area and intentionally concealed the item underneath the front passenger seat of the Kia.
Before officers could detain the individual or recover the item, he fled the scene. The male was last seen wearing a long–sleeve blue shirt, blue sweatpants, and had a medium afro–style haircut. The male entered a white SUV, which fled westbound on Spruce Street and then northbound on Headley Street, police said in court records.
Police canvassed the immediate area with negative results, police said in court papers.
Officer Chris Tehan advised Officer Montanna Briehler that the male appeared familiar to him and resembled an individual involved in a similar prior incident approximately six months ago.
Police later identified the suspect as Auprel McLean Jr. of Levittown.
Based on the above observations, the officers believed that a firearm and/or other contraband was located within the white Kia. The vehicle was secured and towed by Lynch Towing to the Bristol Borough Police Department, where it was held pending application for a search warrant. The warrant was secured the following day.
During the execution of the search warrant, a thorough search of the vehicle was conducted, which yielded multiple items of evidentiary value, police said in court records.
The following items were recovered:
One (1) black/tan Geisler 19 9×19 semi–automatic firearm equipped with an extended high–capacity magazine containing twenty–eight (28) live rounds of ammunition, along with a dual light/laser targeting device attached;
One (1) electronic vape device containing marijuana/THC;
Three (3) packages of marijuana/tobacco rolling papers;
Two (2) counterfeit Pennsylvania inspection/emission stickers;
One (1) bottle of DayQuil.
They were seized, confiscated, and properly vouchered as arrest evidence.
On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 4:10 p.m., Tehan. while off duty, received an email on his department-issued email account from Detective James Gray of the Lansdale Police Department, Montgomery County regarding this investigation.

Gray advised that he had been monitoring recorded jail video communications involving Anthony Hammond who is in custody due to a probation/parole violation, according to court records.
On April 12, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Gray observed a video call between Hammond and McLean, during which McLean made statements referencing this incident and his actions during Officer Tehan’s arrival and presence on scene.
Additionally, Gray provided still images captured from a Berks County Prison video call dated January 17, 2026, at approximately 6:41 p.m., depicting McLean holding what appears to be the same firearm recovered in the Bristol Borough Police investigation. The video recording and still images were provided to the BBPD as evidence, police said in court records.
McLean Jr. was preliminarily arraigned Friday afternoon by District Judge David J. Chichilitti on the charges. He was remanded to Bucks County Jail unable to post the 10 percent of $150,000 bail set with a court date for April 29. He has no attorney of record currently listed according to online court records.
