The Bristol Borough Police officer attacked by a “large” Rottweiler on Christmas night remains hospitalized as of late Friday afternoon with non-life-threatening injuries, Chief of Police Joe Moors said.
Moors confirmed Mike Levitsky was the officer attacked Christmas night by a dog.
As a result of the attack, the dog has been quarantined for 10 days in his home which is part of standard protocol, officials said.
The attack occurred at around 6:50 p.m. when officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance call.
Levitsky climbed three steps to the doorway of the residence. When the door opened the Rottweiler jumped on him and attacked, a tipster told Lower Bucks Source this morning.
Moors said he could not confirm or deny the tipsters’ info.
In follow-up, Moors repeated the same statement when asked if the domestic dispatch involved Ed Lenegan, 64, also known locally as “Ed the Mower”, reportedly getting into some type of altercation.
The tipster told LBS they had overheard the conversation(s) of officers who came to assist Sgt. Carlos Rivera after the dog knocked Levitsky off the top step, falling about eight feet backwards with the dog clamping down on his shoulder.
The tipster said initial fears were that the veteran cop and former county/federal investigator who thrives on paper chase cases, split his head open. Those fears quickly went away once Levitsky was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital for treatment.
Moors said due to HIPPA regulations he could not provide specifics about Levitsky’s injuries.
“He’s recovering nicely” Moors said “and we’re truly grateful for that.”
Levitsky was hired by Bristol Borough as a part-time officer a little more than 10 years ago. He comes with decades of lead investigator experience, officials said at his hiring.
