If you’re in the part-time job market and live in close proximity to Bristol Borough, you might want to consider becoming a crossing guard.

Why do you ask?

Council, on Monday night, approved a raise for the position to $30 per shift.

It is the second raise Bristol officials have approved since 2022, when the rate was increased from $12 to $15  per hour.

Officials hope the higher shift-rate will attract more applicants.

“We raised this and we really need some crossing guards.” Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said, “If anybody’s out there, it’s a good pay. It’s $60 a day for a couple hours work.”

The borough is looking to add substitute crossing guards to cover intersections on an as-needed basis.

Locals interested in applying for the crossing safety positions can apply at Borough Hall.

Applicants must be able to work well with school-age children, be conscientious about traffic safety and the safety of pedestrians.

The position comes under the direct supervision of the police department.
