Bristol Fire Company Has Record Breaking 2023 for Calls

 Bristol Consolidated Fire Station 50 has a record-breaking 2023 officials announced Tuesday.

Volunteer firefighters responded to a total of 331 Dispatched Emergencies in 2023. The last time Station 50 responded to this many calls was in the 1990s, said fire officials.

Some of the more interesting emergencies of 2023 included:

    • 10 working fires (two multiple alarms)
    • 1 out of county Tech-Rescue Assist
    • 3 out of State Accidents
    • 1 out of State Cover Assignment
    • 5 Water Rescues
    • 2 Auto Extrications
    • 1 Auto Accident with Fire
    • 1 RIT call

Station 50 also put a new Marine Unit in Service during 2023.

Training was constant, with members completing Firefighter-1, RIT Training, Water Rescue Training, Auto Extrication Training and many other topics, said fire officials.Duty Crews were held at least 3/4 times a month, with apparatus checks and other things being completed.

Total man hours of the year were just under 4000, according to fire company data.

“In 2021, Bristol Consolidated Volunteer Fire Company  responded to 160 calls. Over the past two years we doubled our call volume. This is due to a multitude of factors, however; our members continue to be dedicated to the residents of Bristol Borough. We continue to train; we continue to work hard; and we continue to find solutions to providing the best fire protection with our co-housing partners, America Hose Hook & Ladder, and the rest of the Bristol Borough Fire Association. With the additional call volume comes awesome opportunity. We are excited for the future,” said Fire Chief Steve Reeves
