Bristol Man Arrested for Beating, Smothering Wife

A Bristol man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and related offenses late Wednesday night.

Dennis Martin, 67 of Bristol was arraigned last night by Magisterial District Judge Daniel Baranoski for the alleged assault.

According to the criminal filing, Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Beaver Road on March 31 at 7:30 pm,

When police arrived they were met by the victim who was visibly shaking when she told police what had occurred the day before.

The victim said, according to court records, she was hit by her husband the defendant, all over her body and head for several hours. She also told police Martin held a pillow over her face in an attempt to further scare and intimidate her.

The victim told police, Martin taunted her saying ‘don’t pass out’ when he was smothering her with the pillow, court records show.

She also told police the suspect took her cell phone from her so she couldn’t call the police and had threatened to kill her.

The victim was transported to a local medical facility treatment after being interviewed by police.

He is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and three related summary offenses.

Martin is scheduled to appear in Bristol Borough District Court on May 4 currently to answer the charges and was released on unsecured bail.

  1. What is the world come to when a marriage of 20 some odd years and up in attempted murder. How is it that a person can be let out on bail after trying to kill someone. Tell someone that he’s known for almost 30 years. We have a very Twisted court system as the son of the plaintiff we’re going to be doing a fundraiser and charity event to help keep my disabled mother safe and in her home where she belongs
