Bristol Man Charged For Assaulting Girlfriend, Strangling Son, Jailed

A Bristol man allegedly pissed off for some unreported reason took his anger out on his girlfriend and her son and now has a new temporary address at Bucks County Prison.

According to the criminal complaint, on Wednesday August 20 2025 at 1:13 a.m., Bristol Borough Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Washington St. for a reported domestic dispute. Upon arrival police met with complainant who stated her boyfriend,  50-year-old Todd Ritchey assaulter her and her son.

The mother told police Ritchey showed up at the residence appearing agitated and demanded to be let into the residence. She refused but Ritchey used a credit card on the door latch and gained access to the residence.

Once inside he assaulted her by grabbing her and pushing her around the residence resulting in a  cut on the bottom of her left foot, during the fight, police said. 

Ritchey allegedly then grabbed her son by the neck with both hands and lifted him off the ground. The child stated he lost his breath as a result, the responding officer wrote in court papers. 

In addition to the alleged assaults Ritchey also broke a cellphone and an $100 vape pen, according to court records.

Police documented the injuries by taking photographs of them, the probable cause alleges. 

Ritchey was located at the Bristol Train Station and was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters. 

He was charged with  felony counts of strangulation and aggravated assault and related offenses. 

On-call District Judge Michael W. Gallagher set bail at 10 percent of  $120,000.00 and remanded Ritchey to Bucks County Prison with a court date scheduled for  September 3.
