Bristol Man Charged with Alleged Strangulation in Domestic

A Bristol man is charged in a domestic with alleged assault and strangulation.

Police responded to the 7800 block of Monroe Avenue in Bristol on Sunday, June 23, for a domestic in progress, a little after 11 p.m. According to the probable cause, the victim told police, Markham Cato, 63, hit her multiple times with a closed fist, tore out chunks of her hair, and choked her, limiting her ability to breathe. Police observed a bald spot on her head and also her lip cut open and bleeding.

Police said, Cato was in the bedroom when they took him into custody and also observed the victim’s hair on the floor.

Cato was arraigned on a felony charge of strangulation and two lesser degree charges of simple assault and harassment. Unable to post bail of 10%/$100,000, he was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility (BCCF), shown in court documents.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 3.
