The Bristol man accused of beating his infant son to death a year ago entered a guilty plea at a pre-trial conference last week, according to court records.

Tyler Sullivan, 31, agreed to plead guilty to one count of third degree murder and reckless endangerment in the killing of his infant son “Baby T”  a little  over a year ago. His jury trial was schedule to begin next week.

Common Pleas Judge Gary B. Gilman, according to court documents, accepted the guilty plea agreement and deferred sentencing to August 27.

On May 25, 2023, Bristol Borough Police raced over to the 200 block of Radcliffe Street for a  report of a infant in cardiac arrest.

In court records police said, the infant boy was not breathing, cold to the touch and his  skin was blue with visible contusions to his forehead, neck and thigh.

A doctor pronounced the infant dead minutes after midnight and noted in medical records his injuries were indicative of a “battered child.”

Sullivan, according to the criminal complaint, admitted to have “violently shaken” his four-month-old son  on Wednesday.

Sullivan told police the bruising on his son’s body came from bumping into a rocking chair. The infant boy’s mother said she had seen bruising that didn’t align with the version of events he told her.

The following Friday, the Bristol community held a candlelight vigil organized by Stephanie Scancella. Dozens in the  community showed up at the St Mark’s School parking lot for an emotional send off for the four-month-old baby.

I just can’t imagine what the family is going through, holding a lit candle in hand.  We want the family to know we’re here for them and if they need anything just ask. Scancella said.

The outpouring of grief and shock combined with anger towards Sullivan was felt by many of the vigil attendees

Sullivan was originally charged with one count criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of child of endangerment.

The shock of Baby T’s sudden death, would give way to the alleged execution murder in broad daylight murder by Sammar Khan of  her husband  Fasail Khan last May. The two murders rocked the Bristol community. Khan’s jury trial is set begin on June 3.
