Bristol Man’s Trial Begins this Week for Stabbing Ex-Wife on Buckley Street

A Bristol Township man accused of stabbing his estranged wife last year will go on trial Wednesday.

Walter Van Doren, 44 will face the music of justice this week charged with one count of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, burglary and a slew of related misdemeanor offenses’

According to court filings, Borough Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Buckley Street on at 6 am on August 3 for reports of a burglary in progress. On the way to the scene Bucks County Dispatch advised screaming could be heard coming from rear of the residence with a possible stabbing taking place.

Upon arrival officers Kevin DiPalo and Dino Lepore  were directed to the backyard by neighbors where the alleged attack was taken place, court documents say. Officers had to break down a six-foot stockade fence and then “tackled” the suspect while his attack continued with knife in hand, police said.

Van Doren was then taken into custody, by police

The 40 year-old victim was treated for multiple stab wounds by the Bucks County Rescue Squad and transferred to a local medical facility where she required emergency surgery, officers wrote in court documents.

Further police investigation revealed Van Doren, was the estranged husband of the victim and was subsequently sent to Bucks County Prison by District Justice Frank J. Peranteau on $100,000.00 bail where he remains currently.
