In a tale all too sad to be true a Bristol Borough mother actively using methamphetamines is facing serious consequences because the drugs made her so paranoid that she apparently thought she and her children were poisoned by her boyfriend.
Tabitha Jones, 26 was arraigned on three counts of felony child endangerment by on-call District Judge Terrence Hughes Thursday May 1, bail was set as unsecured.
Police officers from Bristol Borough and Middletown Township conducted the investigation that was launched on March 3 when Sgt. “Jimmer” Ellis received a phone call from a Snyder Girotti Elementary School employee alerting him that Jones, according to court records, came into the school telling staff she did not feel safe around her boyfriend who was in her vehicle. She requested school staff to call police and meet her at her Wood St. home.
Upon arrival at the residence, police separated the two to conduct interviews.
Jones told Ellis that her boyfriend, Paul Oakes, had hit her the day before. Continuing she said, Oakes gave her an open bottle of water that tasted funny to her. Ellis observed no obvious signs of abuse. Ellis suggested Jones go to the hospital with her children for testing. Ellis explained the Protection From Abuse process and how a Woman’s Place could help her, according to the probable cause.
Ellis, wrote in court papers, said the children were laughing and playing electronic games and did not appear in any danger.
Later that same day a St. Mary’s Emergency Room RN reported to 911 that Jones and her children along with Oakes had come into the ER. Jones allegedly told medical staff that Oakes had drugged her children. All four were tested, according to court records.
Investigator Kelli Kozlowski of Bucks County Children & Youth met with Jones at the hospital with all the children. Kozlowski said Jones appeared disoriented and tested positive at the hospital for methamphetamine and Fentanyl. Jones admitted to Moher to having needles and drugs in plain view of children. Jones also admitted to Moher she had driven the three children, Oakes and herself to St. Mary’s Medical Center Emergency Room, according to court records.
Children and Youth also met with two of the children who reported to investigators Jones doing shots (needles) in the home and also informed them there were needles all over the house. Needles were found on the floor, on tables, in the kitchen and in Jones’ bedroom. The children said they had to walk over needles in the living room. One of the two children said Oakes and Jones used needles together, according to court records.
Middletown Township Police Officer Andrew Brady was called back by medical staff because Jones tested positive for methamphetamine and Fentanyl. Caseworker Rob Bucks County Children and Youth officials were alerted and arrived just after midnight on March 4, 2025 and spoke with Jones, court records show.
Jones, according to the criminal complaint, admitted to using illicit substances earlier in the day.
Sgt. Pete Faight of the Bristol Borough Police Department called St. Mary’s Medical Center Emergency Room to follow up with medical personnel. Faight spoke to Dr. Aurahom Gurwitz of the Emergency Room, who said Jones was under the influence of illicit substances.
On April 2, 2025 at or about 1:05 p.m., a Children and Youth investigator interviewed Jones at her home about the March 3, 2025 incident. Jones admitted to her she did a needle shot in the basement and thought it was meth. One child was upstairs sleeping and the other children were in school. Oakes, she said, gave her a glass of water. The meth was laced with Fentanyl and “kicked in.” Jones told Mohr that she had driven the children to the hospital.
On April 7, 2025 at or about 10 a.m., an investigator from Bucks County Children and Youth met Jones and drove her to St. Mary’s Hospital for a leg issue. Jones admitted to Kozlowski on using methamphetamine and Fentanyl on March 3, 2025 and going to St. Mary’s Emergency Room. Jones stated she was hallucinating and drove Oakes and three children to the hospital. Jones told Kozlowski Oakes kept telling her to straighten out the wheel and to stay on the road. Kozlowski asked Jones if she thought it was a good idea with the kids in the car.
In response she said, ‘She wasn’t thinking.’
Jones is scheduled to appear in court on May 14 to answer the charges.
