A Bristol woman charged by Warrington Police in connection to a January accident with a Central Bucks School District Bus recently waived her right to a preliminary hearing and was formally arraigned at the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. The woman, her passenger and a student were transported to the hospital from the accident scene.
Carolyn Ann Delp, 51 was originally charged with accidents involving death or injury while not licensed, meeting/overtaking a school bus, driving while operator license privileges were suspended and driving at a safe speed. The safe speed summary offense was withdrawn by prosecutors prior to Delp’s April preliminary hearing.
Warrington Police allege on January 10, 2024, at approximately 9:11 a.m. they were dispatched to an accident on Easton Road and Georges Lane. The investigation revealed that a Central Bucks School District bus was stopped on northbound Easton Road with the red lights activated and picking up a child. Delp was traveling behind the bus and failed to stop in enough time, striking the rear of the bus. One student along with Delp and her passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Delp was operating the vehicle while her Pennsylvania Drivers License was suspended, police said in a press release.
No additional information about the injuries suffered in the accident was released by Warrington Police.
She is now scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference at the Court of Common Pleas on August 26 in front of Judge Gary B. Gilman.
Before and during each academic school year, when roadways become filled with school buses picking up and dropping off area students, public service campaigns are launched throughout Bucks County reminding motorists about school bus safety.
