Struck 18 Year-Old Doing Well Despite Injuries, Police Say

The crash on Rt 13 in Bristol Borough sending an 18 year-old woman to the hospital Monday remains under investigation, Bristol authorities said Tuesday.

The young woman, Chief of Police Joe Moors said, sustained several broken bones but is “doing well.”

Moors said the investigation remains open and active and hopes witnesses to the crash will contact lead investigator Sgt Chuck Palmer who can be reached by calling 215- 788-7813.  Witnesses can also send in tips and information about the accident by clicking this link

This is the first vehicle vs. pedestrian car accident within Bristol Borough boundaries in more than a year, according to crash data collected by this news organization.

A little more than four years on the almost exact opposite side Rt 13 and 2nd Ave a mother with a baby stroller crossing the busy roadway was struck. The driver in the accident pleaded guilty to DUI and two summary offenses.

A short time later, a specialized crossing light to warn motorists of the pedestrian crossing lane and traffic related warning signs were installed, by PennDOT as requested by state and local officials.

Borough police officers were dispatched at 2:35 p.m. to the crash Monday afternoon.

Upon their arrival, officers saw a young woman was struck in the southbound lanes in the crosswalk where Rt 13 and 2nd Avenue intersect, police said.

The motorist remained on scene, Moors said, as the Bucks County Rescue Squad transported the victim to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for treatment.
