Homes Condemned Due to Structural Issues Caused by Flooding in Bristol

Five Bristol Borough homes were condemned late Monday night by borough officials due to flooding and structural safety concerns for one home.

Homes on the 400 block of Pond Street came to the attention of officials after Bristol Fire Companies responded to a flooded basement call.

Flooding caused a wall collapse in the basement in the house at the 442 address said officials on scene.

Borough Code Enforcement Officer John Miller said flooding caused a structural issue to one five homes  which he condemned.

The residence in question requires an engineers evaluation, Miller said.

Miller said residents were evacuated safely and relocated to the Red Cross or with family members.

Pond Street was closed down to traffic for about 90 minutes while borough officials inspected homes to the right of the flooded residence, where a hole in the ground along side the house could be seen.

Public Works  employees put up horse barriers for safety purposes.

No injuries were reported,  Attempts to reach Bristol Fire officials for comment were unsuccessful as of Tuesday morning.
