A Philadelphia man was jailed late last month after a Guadenzia staffer on the Lower Bucks Hospital campus called police to report a man riding a motorcycle flashing a handgun in the grassy area close where clients congregate.

The incident occurred on August 27 at 5:12 p.m. when Bristol Borough Police Officer Dino Lepore was dispatched to the 500 block of Bath Street for a report of an armed subject.

A Gaudenzia staffer told police they saw the suspect, Edgar Rivera, on the property of the rehabilitation center. Fearing for the safety of clients currently at the treatment site, they called police, police said in court papers.

Police, according to the probable cause, caught up with Rivera, discovering a Taurus GC3 semi-auto handgun he did not own. Rivera, according to police, is a convicted felon and legally cannot own or be in possession of any gun.

Lepore after additional investigation discovered that the handgun was owned by an unidentified person who didn’t give Rivera permission to have the weapon. He told police it was stolen from his vehicle. Rivera, police said, rode the motorcycle recklessly on hospital property while clients were in the area. His license is currently suspended due to a DUI conviction.

Rivera was charged with felony counts of illegally possessing a weapon, receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, theft plus related offenses.

He was arraigned by on-call District Judge John Galloway who remanded the Philadelphia man to Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $100,0000 bail with a court date now set for September 17.

Rivera, according to court records, has no attorney on record currently
