Bristol Man Charged with Assaulting Officer after Playing “Drinking Game”
A drinking game among friends in Bristol Borough went terribly wrong last night with one man being jailed for assaulting an officer. .
Borough Police were called to an unspecified Roosevelt Street address Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. for a report of a disorderly person, according to a release.
Two community sources told the publication problems began when an unknown number of men were “playing a drinking game.” The source could not say what type of alcohol was being consumed while the game was played but did say participants were “really plastered.”
When police arrived on scene Arthur Knauss, 45 of Bristol was observed to be intoxicated and fighting with several men, said police.
He was quickly then taken into custody.
According to court documents filed early Monday morning, Knuass was taken to local medical facility for treatment of a lacerated hand. He is alleged to have punched out a window in the residence prior to police arriving, said the source.
While being treated for his injury, Knuass, police said, became violent and struck an officer.
The suspect was quickly subdued and continued to receive treatment for his hand, police wrote in court documents;
The officer involved sustained minor injuries, was treated and released.
Knuass was jailed, on charges of felony assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and two other related offenses, by Magisterial District Judge Jean Seaman during a 12:30 am on-call video arraignment. Seaman set bail at 10 % of $75,000.
Knuass is tentatively scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 21 in Bristol Borough District Court.
