Red October Bus Tour Stops in Bristol as Phillies Fans Rally

Fans definitely showed the Phillies lots of love on Monday afternoon when the Red October bus tour arrived at Bristol Waterfront Park.

A “sea of Phillies red” was the dominant color as the bus appeared and parted that sea, coming up Mill St.

With the Red October bus expected to arrive, people started arriving as early as 9:30. Everyone was in a great mood, anticipating signing the bus, getting freebie towels and posters.

Many there felt the Phillies would take the series and would like to faceoff against  the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series next, but that series might have to wait until next year with the Arizona Diamondback up 2-0 on LA.

Life-long Phillies fans Stacy, Rachel, Sharon, and Brian, shared with Lower Bucks Source their thoughts on the tied series and the Bristol rally.

Talking with the foursome about game 1, Brian  agreed Trea Turner’s double play was the play of the game and then discussed the Brave’s catcher interference.

As for the catcher’s interference call, Sharon said, “I personally didn’t see the interference.”

Brian said, “There was no interference.”

Brian also spoke about how everyone talks about how horrible the Philly fans can be, yet here were the Braves fans showing their displeasure on the interference call by throwing beer cans and bottles onto the field.

“Here’s the thing. That run didn’t really matter at all,” Sharon said, and the catcher knew he did something wrong because he slammed his glove.

With Bristol and other stops on the tour showing all their love and hoping it would carry the players to a win in game 2 later that night. But it was not meant to be.

Stacy and Rachel expected Zack Wheeler “to be on” and the Phillies to win behind him. Their prediction was good through the 7th inning when Wheeler looked to be in trouble and left the game with 10 strikeouts, with the Phillies leading the 4-3.

Game 2 certainly did look like a winner for the Phillies until late in the game when the Brave’s bats came alive, winning 5-4.

The Phillies are coming home for 2 games with the series tied 1-1. Game 3 is at Citizen Banks Park today (October 11) at 6:07 p.m.. Aaron Nola takes the hill. The Braves Game 2 starter has yet to be announced as of publication time/
