Bristol Borough High School and Middle School were closed Monday due to a threat received by district officials of a student planning to shoot up the school.

Superintendent Dr Thomas Schaffer said in a statement the district received a tip about the threat late Sunday night from the Safe2Say something app around 10 pm that a student planned to “shoot up” the school Monday.

The Safe2Say Something app is a state-operated application where students can anonymously submit reports of threats.

Both schools will reopen Tuesday, Shaffer said but would be closed Monday for cautionary purposes.

Office in Charge, Sgt Joe Moors said the male student accused of making the threat was taken into custody Monday at 1:30 am  charged with terroristic threats and disorderly conduct in juvenile court against the teen who was then sent to county juvenile detention facility.

Moors said district officials alerted police of the threat from the tipster around 10:45 pm Sunday night and with the help of the Bucks County District Attorney’s office were able to identify the alleged suspect.

School Board President David Chichilitti was grateful for the quick work by police and DA’s office with resolving the alleged threat.

“Thank God for them” he said.

Police  said no weapons were found during the investigation.
