Man Attempts to Steal Boat, Jumps into Delaware, Drowns

A man who was allegedly trying to steal a boat jumped into the Delaware River trying to elude capture, witnesses say and has yet to be located.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night, around 10 pm, in Bristol Township around Radcliffe Street,  according to social media posters and commenters.

A commenter said they have video of the alleged suspect and “tried to call 911” to provide help and info to police and first responders.

The light blue glow of first responder lights reflecting off the water plus searchlights from helicopters above.

Fire Department water craft, the Coast Guard and State Police were reported to join the search one commenter said search and rescue operations ceased at 11:30 pm and the man diving into the river was not found.

Police and fire officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment. This is a developing story updates as they come in as we await confirmation of the information above.
