Woman Rescued from Delaware River by Borough Officer, First Responders

A Bristol Borough Police officer, with help from local first responders,  rescued a woman from the Delaware River this past weekend.

The save occurred when police and rescue personnel were called to the 300 block of Radcliffe Street, behind the Well Fargo Bank, around 3 pm, Sunday.

Upon arrival, Officer Elifa Soto, found a female clinging to the bulkhead, in the river.

Soto placed a life preserver on the individual and was able pull her out her out of the water with the assistance of the Bucks County Rescue Squad and a firefighter from Croydon who was in the area, police said.

It is unknown how or why the 55 year -old female from Levittown ended up in the river, Bristol Borough Chief of Police Steve Henry said.

Reportedly the woman was taken to Lower Bucks Hospital to be assessed for injuries.

No additional information has been released by officials on the rescue as of publication time.
