The early morning Saturday morning heat did not stop a few dozen young anglers from their annual fishing  date with Bristol Borough Police officers at the Lagoon on Jefferson Avenue.

The event sponsored by the Bristol Borough Police Benevolent Association (BBPBA) and  held in memory  of former Mill Street business owner Brian Adams of Trainpops Attic, who passed away in 2021 after a long bout with cancer.

PBA President Sgt. Chuck Palmer said the union renamed the event, in Adams’ honor because of his tireless dedication in helping the PBA and Bristol Borough Police bring events to borough’s children.

Three youngsters earned awards for their fishing catches (which were released back into the lagoon at the end of the event.

Palmer suggested the fishing with a cop idea several years ago as way for officers to connect with borough children 12 and under. He has said in the past fishing was instrumental in keeping him out of  “trouble” when he was growing up in Bristol.

Some of the fishing equipment Adams donated before he passed is still being used for the event, Palmer said.
