An irate 64-year-old Falls Township man was taken into custody after threatening to shoot up a district courthouse in the Bristol Township section of Levittown Tuesday.

William Werner of the Morrisville section of Falls Twp. was taken into custody after making the threats over the phone when speaking with court personnel at District Judge Terry Hughes’ court, located on the grounds of the Lower Bucks County government complex off New Falls Road, police said.

According to Bristol Township Police, on Tuesday April 7th 2026, at approximately 1:21 p.m., Bristol Township Police responded to the courthouse for a threat complaint.

Courthouse staff locked all doors, stopped business and sheltered in place until police arrived on scene, police said.

The accused, William Werner, was speaking to a court staff member about a traffic ticket when he threatened to “come back into the court with a gun and shoot and kill the office staff and the officer,” causing the courthouse to divert from normal and customary business and shut down, police said.

Werner could possibly be upset about a traffic violation issued by Tullytown Borough Police in March.

Court records show Werner was issued tickets for expired registration and no insurance. He has a summary trial date set for April 21 before Judge Hughes.

Werner was charged with one felony count of terroristic threats and preliminarily arraigned by District Judge Kevin Wagner. He is currently being held on 10 percent of $500,000 bail and is expected to be back in court on April 21.
