A 47 year-old Levittown man is in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing after a drunken rage-fueled attack, police say, on his girlfriend earlier this month in which he threatened to kill her.
On June 7, 2026 at approximately 2:49 a.m., a complainant arrived at Bristol Twp. Police Headquarters and met with police regarding a physical domestic incident that occurred about an hour ago.
Upon arriving at headquarters, police spoke with the complainant.
She told police that approximately an hour ago she and her boyfriend, the defendant, Joseph Gregory returned to their Levittown home from the bar. She explained Gregory was very intoxicated and shortly after returning home they got in an argument.
In an attempt to separate, she said he was going to sleep on the couch and she was going to sleep upstairs with the bedroom door locked.
Gregory, she alleged, bashed in the bedroom door, tackled her to the floor and put both of his hands around her neck and squeezed, choking her. While choking her Gregory threatened to kill her and said “I will end your life right now.” She said when he was choking her, she was unsure if she lost consciousness but advised she could not breathe, the criminal complaint alleges.

The survivor pushed him off her, which is when he leaned over and grabbed his belt and wrapped it around his hand. He attempted to push the belt down onto her neck, but she swatted his hands away. This resulted in Gregory’s hand hitting her on the head leaving red markings and a lump on her forehead, police said in court records.
She was then able to get away and he was sleeping on the couch and had no idea she left the residence, said police in court papers.
Police observed a red mark on her forehead which was photographed for evidence but did not observe any markings to her neck, court records show.
Gregory was arraigned on charges of strangulation, simple assault, terroristic threats, and a related summary offense last week by District Judge Terrence Hughes. He is due back in court on July 7 for a preliminary hearing and is being held on 10 percent of $100,000.00 and has no attorney of record, according to online court records.
