Billowing thick black smoke from a garage fire Wednesday night in the bitter cold called out Bristol Township first responders to Croydon.
Fire crews from Croydon Fire Company, Station 11 Levittown Fire Company No. 2 Third District Volunteer Fire Company and Edgely Fire Company (Ten House) were dispatched to 916 Wyoming Avenue at 6:50 p.m. for a reported house fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene to discover a detached double garage fully engulfed in flames.
A number of residents in the immeadiate area said they heard an explosion just before the fire took form.
Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said several acquaintances of property owner were cleaning out garage when the fire occurred. He said he’s investgatiing the cause.
There were no injuries reported.
Public works employees salted the street when fire crews left to combat the residual water left over in the street turning into ice as temps dropped further overnight.
